How Vrbo fees work

Until Oct 28, 2026, pay-per-booking hosts pay a 5% commission on the rental amount plus mandatory fees (cleaning, pet and similar), and a 3% payment processing fee; hosts connected through property management software pay the 5% commission and process payments themselves. Guests separately pay Vrbo a service fee (roughly 6–15%), which does not come out of your payout. From Oct 29, 2026, Vrbo has told hosts all models move to a single 12% commission on the rental amount plus fees. The legacy $699/year subscription is not available to new hosts.

Processing is calculated here on the booking subtotal; on real bookings it applies to the full transaction (including taxes and refundable deposits where applicable), so treat these as close estimates and confirm your rates in Vrbo's own fee summary. Percentages checked against Vrbo's published fee structure, October 2026.
