Host-Only Fee vs Split Fee, With Numbers

Airbnb charges hosts in one of two ways. Under the split fee, the host pays about 3% and the guest pays a service fee (often around 14.2%). Under the host-only fee, the host pays about 15% and the guest pays no Airbnb service fee.

A $810 booking, both ways

Split feeHost-only fee
Booking subtotal$810.00$810.00
Host fee$24.30 (3%)$121.50 (15%)
Guest service fee$115.02 (14.2%)$0
Host payout$785.70$688.50
Guest pays$925.02$810.00

Same listing, same nights: the split fee leaves the host $97.20 more on this booking — but the guest sees a higher total, which can affect conversion. Rates vary by market and listing type; run your own numbers in the payout calculator (all percentages are editable there).
